To new beginnings

Tuesday, 28 November 2017
2017 has been a very fulfilling year for me. First off, I got married to my best friend and soulmate. (He probably doesn't like to hear the word "friend" because I friend-zoned him in the past oops sorry darling). Anyway, it has been an awesome journey thus far and I can only say, I <3 you dear!

Through the months of adapting to married life, he has been my pillar of strength and support and I cannot be thankful enough. (: I feel very fortunate to have found this kind and sincere soul that I can now call my husband.

For the past few months, he has also shown me what love really is, fussing over me, and truly being there for me when I was physically and mentally out of it. Thank you for being patient, for taking care of me when I could barely take care of myself. For worrying about me and zooming here and there just to make sure my needs were taken care of.

While he is away on a work trip right now, I took the time to reflect on us and our relationship and I realised that I have little to nothing to feel negative about. I'm really really very blessed to have Sam in my life. Through our time together, he also taught me how to be a better person, a better daughter, a better wife. In September (I just scrolled my phone to find this message), he said something which really took me by surprise (in a good way). He said "I don't want your potential to be wasted, because you are made for more". I was mind-blown... no one has ever said that to me and for many days I was just trying to absorb the enormity that he believes so much in me. Thank you darling. (':

So today, I decided to look back at some of our wedding photos and pick out some of my favourites to share! Here goes...

Thank you for everything and I'm looking forward to new beginnings in 2018 with you!!! (:

Seoul Part 2

Saturday, 13 August 2016
Back in Seoul after Jeju and Busan for the last leg of our holiday.

We changed our bnb and decided to try another which was just across the road from the station. Behind the apartment was a restaurant which served yummy budae jjigae! We really wanted to try this after looking at so many tempting videos on social media and this proved to be the right choice for 2 hungry people!

Korean Army Stew - budae jjigae! 2 thumbs up!

After lunch, we headed to Myeongdong in search of more food and potential gifts to buy back. Didn't find any gifts we liked but definitely found a lot of food! Snacked and walked so much that day.

For dinner, we headed back to Bukchon Hanok Village in search of this famous ginseng chicken restaurant that we couldn't find the first time we went to Gyeongbokgong palace.

Ginseng chicken soup from Tosokchon. Baby Eeyore eyeing the tasty hot soup!

The next day, we weren't sure what we wanted to do so we decided to visit the Namsan tower!

Trekked uphill to the Namsan Cable Car station. Was pretty fun I must say - got to work for what we want!

Spent a lot of time here because we didn't have anywhere else we wanted to go. We queued to go up the tower with 2 little children in front of us. We just couldn't help but be amazed at how cute they looked in puffy winter clothes, never get to see this in Singapore!

View from the top!

At night, we were out of ideas of where to eat - mostly because all the places we opted for were either closed or had moved, so we picked this random western restaurant that had a decent number of eaters. (Singaporean mentality - got many people means good)

Seafood marinara from dunno-whats-this-place-called... I thought it was really delicious, was cooked perfectly al dente!

After dinner, we had gongcha. Gongcha in Korea is probably more popular than in Singapore, they have huge seating areas in their cafés! Their drinks are not cheap though - twice the price of Singapore's.

After chilling and using free wifi at the gongcha cafe, we met Kyung Eun and went for drinks.

It was our last night in Korea and of course we couldn't miss out Chimaek - chicken and beer! I really wanted to do a My Love from Another Star scene where Cheon Songyi would order chimaek and chill at home but it was not to be. We still had the real deal at the bar itself! Tried some beer but I had two sips and that was it, too disgusted with the bitter taste to continue. We ordered a mix of spicy and original chicken. The spicy was a lot nicer - though I was suffering from my burning tongue.

That was our last night in Seoul with Kyung Eun! Shared a cab back after because we talked so much and so late into the night that there was no more public transport operating anymore.

The next day, we ended our last day in Seoul at Apgujeong with lots of snow fall with big snow flakes! Having snowball fights with Sam was pretty fun (and brutal because we both no give chance!). We were the only two kukus running around the streets without an umbrella, perspiring inside our thick layers and getting drenched outside once the snow melted. But it was a really fun way to end our stay in Korea, I wouldn't have exchanged that moment for anything else!

Can't believe that it's been 6 months since we left Korea! Miss the snow, skiing  and of course the food! Can't wait for our next trip, whenever that will be!

Feeling a little down today so I decided to think about things that make me happy. And I thought of this moment!

Sam... made me the happiest girl ever a few weeks ago. (:

After I stopped grinning to myself on that day, I asked him "Eh, you put a ring on me, I'm gonna annoy you for life, ok ah?" He answered "Sure!" -- hahaha I'm not sure if he can answer with the same confidence 10 years down the road but we'll see. <3

After the initial shock and excitement was over, I asked him how he afforded it, and then... I started crying. He didn't tell me how he did it, but I know how financially stretched he is to imagine how hard it must have been... )':

Thank you love, for treating me like a princess the past 4 years, yet keeping me grounded at times. I never thought I would find someone like you. You have impacted my life in so many ways, and let me into every aspect of yours too. I just can't help but be super duper excited to spend the rest of my life with you. (: Love you baobei.

Xoxo.

A break

Thursday, 4 February 2016
It's February.

Where did the time go?

Sam has been working night shifts for the past 2 months and it's been extremely difficult to meet him except for the weekends and I miss him. ):

But, this also means that when we get to see each other, we appreciate each other's company a lot more. The other day, we went shopping at 2am, bought a whole lot of twisties, ate the twisties and watched The Flash together. Fattening but happy. (:

On another occasion, I had red nail polish on and it was around Christmas time so I placed my finger on his nose and said, Hello Rudolf! Lame, but that's how we've been passing our days.

My Rudolf and I. Better to have 2 Rudolfs than 1!

I met up with Nic, Jo and Vanna when Nic came back in December and we had so much laughter. I think we spent 4 hours at Din Tai Fung.

I also met Nic + Nastasha during lunch one day.

 And that was how I ended my 2015.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Work has been okay recently. Today I had some fun. Here's how it happened:
Daryl went to play badminton but I didn't notice him leaving. After he was gone, Karen turned around and asked me "Where's Daryl". After looking around for awhile, I said "I don't know, he's been gone for awhile".
Then we both saw his pants on his chair and Karen exclaimed "Omg Daryl is walking around office without his pants?!" I pulled his chair out and saw his shirt and then found his shoes on the floor. We kind of figured he changed out of office attire and went to the gym... But I couldn't resist doing this:
And that's my boss at the crime scene. Here's a glimpse of the fun times in my office. :D
Till next time! Ciao!
It's 1am and I can't sleep
Thursday, 5 November 2015
I have had no time to blog since I started work. I usually prefer spending time with my family or Sam after work. Reaching home around 8pm and aiming to sleep by 11pm only gives me a 3 hour gap to do things and I guess I haven't optimised my time as well as I want to yet. Today is one exception; I'm wide awake at 1am and decided to blog. Oh well, at least I've been coping okay and getting enough sleep everyday for a start! (:
I went on a short trip to Penang with my family some time in August (I think. I don't remember time anymore after starting work). We stayed somewhere near Gurney but visited places in Georgetown too.
Of course, we couldn't miss the street art.
Most people have not seen me dressed like this. I call this my lao pok shorts which I wear to look deliberately unfashionable so that hopefully I won't catch the eye of robbers. As for my shoes, sometimes while overseas I dress to feel comfy and you can never go wrong with sport shoes. (:
Then again, my dress sense overseas generally depends on the weather + whether I feel safe in the country + terrain of the places I'm visiting. Heh.
There was this big fake camera at a camera museum we walked past somewhere in Georgetown and we could see each other through the huge lens. Bro took a picture of me through the lens of his camera, looking through the lens of the big fake camera. Some camera inception going on there.
Me with a bike! This has probably got to be my favourite street art of all.
1. The bike is cool and vintage. I love vintage.
2. I have a license to ride it!
3. Or maybe not since it's defunct.
4. Oh damn... the tires are punctured.
On our last night, we had Sushi Teh at Queensbay mall. It was such a hearty meal but it was a lot cheaper than Singapore! This was Dad judging me after I did something ridiculous - ok I put 2 chopsticks in my mouth and pretended I was a vampire. Childish I know... but food was taking really long to come and my fingers were itchy.
Waiting for our flight home!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Awhile after I started work, my oldest cousin got married. Congrats Jeffrey and Joanna! (: Sadly I don't have nice photos of just them alone or us with them. Anyway, we took some shots in between the ROM and the lunch reception!

My favourite people! (:

This dress I'm wearing is extremely overused for weddings. There was only 1 wedding this year for which I did not use this dress (only because I already used the dress the day before for another wedding). I love wearing this dress because... it feels like it's tailored for me (even though it's not). Even though the back is bare, I feel extremely safe wearing it because it's tight enough at the right places. And also, it's pretty don't you think? :D

With my cousins and aunt.

So that's all the updates I have for now. Am getting the sleepy headache-y feels now. Good night! I wonder if people still read this blog.

RWS

Friday, 26 June 2015
Went for a RWS staycation with Sam about a month ago. We didn't take a lot of pics but we enjoyed ourselves and had many long walks, fun suppers, interesting conversations and just shared each other's company. (:

We also watched people trying iFly and it got us interested too... until we found out that it costs $99 per pax for 2 x 45 seconds of fly time. That's like more than $1 per second of fly time... like what???! Our skydive on exchange costed us USD$200 per pax, which is about SGD$260 according to the exchange rate then... which is so much more worth. Then again, how are we going to fly all the way there to skydive again hahaha...

Anyway, just some pictures we managed to snap before the sun set.

Happy happy! We were so looking forward to this staycation because Sam works on alternate saturdays and this staycation weekend was one of the rare weekends he got to really rest and recharge!

This was a "Orchid Connection"?
We never walked in though, just decided to snap pics with the pretty flowers!

I like this "fairytale" shot hehe.

And this too! Though it was already dark...

Merlion

We were tourists in Singapore that day - we were discussing about it and concluded that Singapore is actually a really pretty place that is sadly unexplored by locals. Such a pity, we should explore Singapore more! (and work less!) Haha. Sounds so challenging...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sam's birthday just passed last week and we watched Minions together. Truth to be told, I wanted to watch Minions more than him but he still decided to spend his day watching it with me! Hehe. The movie was so funny... I love Bob!!! Bob is so cute... I'm going to buy a Happy Meal just to get the Bob toy. So old already still buy happy meal hahaha. This is the 1st time I'm doing something like this but I guess it's fun! Haha!
No pretty pics from that day because we had dinner in a very dim restaurant, and also, I forgot to take a shot with Sam. ): Was upset when I realised and it was too late because the day had already passed... but oh well, at least we ate a lot of good food, spent time chilling, window shopping and catching a movie! Yay to a simple but happy day! (:
November
Saturday, 1 November 2014
It's the 1st of November! Since I last blogged, I wrote a few time-sensitive posts that are outdated now. Too lazy to go through with publishing them because they were just ramblings and nothing much.
Decided to blog today because I haven't had a proper outlet from all the stress I've accumulated in school. I don't have any final exams this semester and that is why, all my assignments and projects play a big part in deciding my grades, with 70% of my grades dependent on my performance during my last 3 weeks of school. I have about 2 weeks to go!
Going to be blogging about my October this year! Did a few things last month including ice skating, watching a dance concert, attending Pokemon Day and visiting Google Singapore as part of a class excursion!
I went ice skating with SMUX skating team during recess week. It was one of the rare days where I did not touch any form of school or project work.
With Sam!
Hehe riding for free!
SMUX Skating Team booked the whole rink for our event Frolic on Ice and we were split into groups to play some games. Our group came in 2nd but didn't win anything. Oh well! It was fun anyway! :D
Group picture!
Then I went for NUS's Shut Up and Dance before my recess week ended.
Bumped into Apple!
Picture with the BFF. (: You were awesome!!
The girls from Council. (:
Think we kind of went mad because of How Sun's kickass performance. Haha!
Probably the only normal picture we took that night
28th Council! (:
Then I went for Pokemon Day at Jalan Besar Stadium some time ago which happened to coincide with a soccer match between Singapore's Home United and Japan's Albirex Niigata. Bro asked Sam and I along using Pokemon Day as a pretext so we definitely weren't expecting a soccer match! First soccer match I've watched in Singapore!
Waited so long to take pic with this guy
Happy bro got what he came for!
Finally, at the end of October, I paid a visit to Google on the eve of Halloween as part of a class excursion. Now everyone wants to bid for this class next semester. Hahaha.
My groupmates and I! Spirits were all very high that day and we all became kids again.
Our class. (:
It was a really fun day we spent at Google, learning what they do in the Singapore office and of course, taking a tour around the area. The mood was so fun! I guess I ended my October on an awesome note! Time to get back to work! :D
