Seoul Part 2

Back in Seoul after Jeju and Busan for the last leg of our holiday.

We changed our bnb and decided to try another which was just across the road from the station. Behind the apartment was a restaurant which served yummy budae jjigae! We really wanted to try this after looking at so many tempting videos on social media and this proved to be the right choice for 2 hungry people!

After lunch, we headed to Myeongdong in search of more food and potential gifts to buy back. Didn't find any gifts we liked but definitely found a lot of food! Snacked and walked so much that day. 

For dinner, we headed back to Bukchon Hanok Village in search of this famous ginseng chicken restaurant that we couldn't find the first time we went to Gyeongbokgong palace.

The next day, we weren't sure what we wanted to do so we decided to visit the Namsan tower! 

Trekked uphill to the Namsan Cable Car station. Was pretty fun I must say - got to work for what we want! 

Spent a lot of time here because we didn't have anywhere else we wanted to go. We queued to go up the tower with 2 little children in front of us. We just couldn't help but be amazed at how cute they looked in puffy winter clothes, never get to see this in Singapore!

At night, we were out of ideas of where to eat - mostly because all the places we opted for were either closed or had moved, so we picked this random western restaurant that had a decent number of eaters. (Singaporean mentality - got many people means good)

Seafood marinara from dunno-whats-this-place-called... I thought it was really delicious, was cooked perfectly al dente! 

After dinner, we had gongcha. Gongcha in Korea is probably more popular than in Singapore, they have huge seating areas in their cafés! Their drinks are not cheap though - twice the price of Singapore's. 

After chilling and using free wifi at the gongcha cafe, we met Kyung Eun and went for drinks. 

It was our last night in Korea and of course we couldn't miss out Chimaek - chicken and beer! I really wanted to do a My Love from Another Star scene where Cheon Songyi would order chimaek and chill at home but it was not to be. We still had the real deal at the bar itself! Tried some beer but I had two sips and that was it, too disgusted with the bitter taste to continue. We ordered a mix of spicy and original chicken. The spicy was a lot nicer - though I was suffering from my burning tongue. 

That was our last night in Seoul with Kyung Eun! Shared a cab back after because we talked so much and so late into the night that there was no more public transport operating anymore. 

The next day, we ended our last day in Seoul at Apgujeong with lots of snow fall with big snow flakes! Having snowball fights with Sam was pretty fun (and brutal because we both no give chance!). We were the only two kukus running around the streets without an umbrella, perspiring inside our thick layers and getting drenched outside once the snow melted. But it was a really fun way to end our stay in Korea, I wouldn't have exchanged that moment for anything else!

Can't believe that it's been 6 months since we left Korea! Miss the snow, skiing  and of course the food! Can't wait for our next trip, whenever that will be! 

Mid-July Musings

~ This is going to be a very random post of unrelated events that happened recently ~

It was my first time going to a friend's wedding, and also a cool one since I went with my mum. Congrats Doreen! (: Your wedding was a very heartwarming one. (:

My favourite dress from VGY that Yvonne got for me. It has been worn so many times in such a short span of time! The back is awesome (;

Met with BFF awhile back too! We ate lunch at Holland V and then had ice cream at Daily Scoop for dessert! (:

And then I went on a food escapade with Sam. We were searching for yummy risottos to eat and found Froth Cafe at BIG Hotel. The ambience is nice! Food is nice too!

This was the lobster sandwich we shared and we upgraded our fries to truffle fries.

This was actually what we came for - the Tom Yum Seafood Risotto. It's spicy but I think Sam liked it! Yay!

Then we did a combined meet up with the girls because Nic came back for 2 weeks!! 2 weeks went really fast...

Following that, this happened to be one of my random days where I needed to run errands in town/school and I dropped by Orchard Central just before lunch time to avoid the crowd and eat this! Truffle Yakiniku Don. The lunch time price was $14.80 which was reasonable! If I had decided to come here for dinner I would be paying $17/$18 instead. Yummy beef, egg and truffle! 

Since I was on some kind of yummy food spree these past few weeks, I was craving ice cream... almost everyday. It didn't help that my mum bought mini almond magnums 2 boxes at a time and I was always opening the fridge to search for food.

So of course, when Sam drove past a Daily Scoop branch near his place, I kept thinking about it and we decided to head there one day after dinner!

We had waffles with Hazelnut Haven and Rum and Raisin. I cannot appreciate rum so I ate most of the hazelnut... as usual. Hehe.

Just a few days back, Sam and I had mookata with his friends. We ate at a place in Orto Village. I think we've had mookata here more than 5 times in the past few months already. Yummy!

Feels weird to blog without a theme but I can't be bothered. Haha.
Oh, and I'm graduating tomorrow. Whoo hoo!! So excited! :D

Hmm.. time to go search the fridge again... I'm hungry.

BKK

Took a short trip to BKK with the cousin last week. I guess this was kind of like my grad trip! Hehe. We ate and shopped so much! :P

This was at Audrey's Cafe and Bistro at Siam Centre.

Thai Tea Crepe. Don't really understand the craze about this one, just tastes extremely creamy to me.

Boat Noodles at Victory Monument. This was noodles in sour soup. First bowl was way too spicy. Consequently, we ordered the non-spicy version! Tasted so good! (:

This was beef noodles in thickened soup. We were a little hesitant about trying this because we found out the soup was made out of pig's blood but it was worth the try! No weird taste at all!

I had 5 bowls and Darren had 9. Yum!

This day also happened to be Darren's 24th birthday so we celebrated by eating dessert at the After You cafe in Siam Paragon!

We actually wanted to play Gokart but the place was booked for a school event.

Thai Iced Tea - tastes so much like the one from SMU's Loaves Me cafe. Been trying many Thai Iced Teas since we landed in Thailand but this was by far the most balanced and the best! 

Milo Crepe. I personally like this better than the Thai tea crepe. Like a lot better - maybe because it's chocolate/milo.  

This was the best Calamari rings I've ever tried in my life! Truffle fried calamari. Too good to be true!

Waffle with Strawberry ice cream. The ice cream was really good - didn't try the waffle though, was too full by the time this came.

And that was the end of our BKK trip! 

Next Phase

I have a lot to be excited about recently. I'm moving onto my next phase in life soon - the working world! Gone will be my summer holidays - then again they were never there since I've been interning every summer. Nevertheless, it still feels good!

The only thing I'm left with at school is picking up some of my official certs before I get no more access to school systems, receive my final grades for this semester on 8th May (*pray for the best*), and my graduation ceremony on 15th July! Yippee!

Went cycling with my dad today. Met an extremely cute poodle along the way who wanted to play with us. At first she came to our feet with a small branch but left when her owner called. After they walked one round, she came back again, this time with a bigger branch which she placed on my feet, desperate to play a game of fetch. I didn't play with her, but passed her owner the branch to throw instead. Such a cute little playful one. (:

Cycled along a long stretch of park connectors for the first time today and I must say, the government really put in a lot of effort to make the stretches of park connectors so scenic and relaxing. Singapore is so small yet all these are places I've never been to before, and it doesn't even feel like an urban area, it really feels like a big green park.

Later in the evening, I went for a BBQ dinner with the diving team. Almost walked into my friend's pond because it was in the middle of the house. Haha! Lucky for me I stared a bit longer and harder to see if there was really glass over the fishes - there wasn't, before I continued walking.

It's been a long and fulfilling day today. Glad I got to spend so much time with so many people today. (:

Genting

Went to Genting with Sam over the weekend last week. Our first meal was at Old Town White Coffee. Sam had Prawn Mee and I had Ipoh Hor Fun.

We spent most of our time eating and chilling. So this was our dinner at a Thai restaurant.

My Green Curry - spicy but because it was tasty, I finished almost all the chicken! Forgot to take a picture before I started eating because I was so hungry. Haha!

We went to try the Kin Kin Chilli Pan Mee in KL. Sam tried the one in Macpherson and he said the KL one is better! Guess I don't need to try the Macpherson one already haha.

While walking to Chinatown I found a place I used to stay when I visited KL when I was a kid.

Sam brought me to this back alley where we had the Tze Char he ate the last time he came to KL a decade ago.

He was searching high and low for this place because he missed the food.

After KL we went back to Genting and had a second dinner at a Chinese restaurant.

When we just started eating, Sam took a spoon to try my soup and he said "I like yours better than mine". Curious, I took a sip of his and I said I like his better than mine! So we switched. After we finished eating, he said "I got a secret to tell you... I actually like mine better than yours." I was like "What?! Why didn't you tell me! I ate finish already" and he said "because you kept staring at it so I know you wanted to eat mine!" 

I mean who wouldn't stare at the Herbal Duck when you're served with the Ipoh Hor Fun right? Just look at the difference in their presentation! Hahaha. So anyway this boy gave me the yummier one to eat again... (': 

Lastly our Fried Beancurd which tasted more like fish cake haha.

And that was the end of our trip!
